I visited Sacre Coeur with a friend the other day. I really like this building. It's in an amazing location and it's quite impressive. It also gives a gorgeous view of the city.

On the way down the hill we passed by a chocolate store. They have chocolate sculptures. They're really cool.

And of course, more food. =)

Recently in Paris

The weather has been nicer lately in Paris.....not as cold, but not really hot yet. It's been raining off and on, but when it's not raining, we try to go out for walks. Even though Paris is a busy city, it has a lot of parks with a lot of trees and flowers. It's nice because it takes you away from the cars and buildings for a little bit. However, when the weather is nice....everyone goes out to the parks and gardens. Sometimes its more crowded there than on the streets!

Pretty flowers and cute wooden stairs in the back
Paris is also very interesting to walk around. There's always something to see. Like this....It's a huge block of chocolate! They carve into the chocolate by hand. It really does look like two hippos in muddy water.

The weather has been interesting too. A little like Miami where it's raining one minute and the sun is shining bright the next. It's a little hard because you're not sure what to expect sometimes. But I guess it's pockets of rain clouds over the city that come and pass.

this weekend

so we had a decently eventful weekend.

Friday night we bought take out chinese food from the place around the corner. Not good =P Will probably not go back.

Saturday, we went with my friend Maggie to the Salon du Chocolate. As the name suggest, it is all about chocolate. It's a huge exposition all about chocolate. We got to try a lot of samples and Germain bought some cookies he really likes. In his defense, it was cheaper than at the supermarket. They had chocolate everything there! However, not every booth gave things out to try. =( but we did get a fair share of samples.

an all chocolate Arc de Triomphe. It was very impressive!
look it all that chocolate!
oo pretty
Today was the rugby world championship. France was playing against New Zealand. Unfortunately we loss. Germain is quite upset about that. It was only by one point too!!

Afterwards we went with some friends to the Catacombs. We had to wait an hour and a half before going in. Luckily it was a pretty day out.

Catacombs are where they moved 6 million human remains. They excavated all the remains from local cemeteries and buried them underground. We had to walk down a long spiral staircase and through a series of tunnels. There were a lot of bones and skeletons. Pretty creepy.

It was a pretty long walk.

And tomorrow back to school. But this week is only my two hour class. I don't have my phonetics class. yay ^_^

Long Weekend

So this weekend was a long weekend. We tried to find last minute deals to go out of town, but we coulndn't find any so we stayed in Paris. Luckily, Paris is a city with something to do every weekend.

We went shopping for an outfit for the city hall, but I still can't find anything. I know I'm picky. =P But there was an expensive grocery store at the Galerie Lafayette. You know me and food. It smelled so good with all the yummy fresh food!

jar of nutella....it's huge!!!

Saturday night we rented a car and drove to Versailles. Versailles is just outside of Paris where the royal family lived during the mid 17th century to the late 18th century. Today it is a museum open to the public. It has a beautiful garden.

On Saturday nights during the summer they run the original water system that powers the many fountains displayed in the gardens. They use the original mechanics to run the fountains...no electricity, just mechanics. And if you saw the size of this thing....its quite impressive!
tons of pretty fountains around the gardens

they are all different
this was pretty cool...they set up  lasers so that it looks like the sky
pretty
the water danced to music
another shot
they even had fire synchronized to music in the middle  of the field...pretty cool
At 11:05pm, they end the night with a fireworks display. We got lucky.......it was a beautiful night.

On Monday, we went to the fete des tuileries. Its like a little fair by the gardens of the Louvre. It wasn't spectacular but it was nice to see. You can win ipads and mac books playing the carnival games at this fair! lol.

trying to win an ipad! haha

It was another nice day so we just walked by the gardens a little bit before going to le mariais.

Le Louvre's Pyramid
At Le Mariais we passed by this amazing chocolate store. We saw it last time I was in Paris....the stuff is so pretty! It smelled so strongly of chocolate as soon as you walk in the store. Very pretty. Gaje, you have to go when you're in Paris! Also...look what flavor ice cream I found!!

Cassis!
pretty
I want to try all of them!!
Yummy macaroons
pretty violin sculpted out of chocolate!
