Food

Germain cooked for me the other two nights because I had my big exam. Hehe......

Quiche Lorraine
Quiche and Salad

Herb Roasted Chicken with Fingerling Potatoes
So I just finished with my semester. I still have an oral exam this week, but the main test is done with. I don't think I did as well as I wanted to do, but I should have still done well. We'll see the grades in two or three weeks.

The weather is pretty warm now. There is still a cool breeze, but during the day it's pretty hot....and we don't have a/c! But it is definitely much better to take walks outside now. Its also light outside a lot later....like 10:30pm! This picture was taken at 9:30pm yesterday!

Duck

We had dinner with Nicolas the other night on the little island in the middle of Paris. The Seine River splits into two in the middle of the city and comes back together. In the middle are two islands. One island has the Notre Dame and some administrative buildings and the other island has a lot of restaurants and stores. We had dinner on the other island....Ile Saint Louis.

The restaurant is in a really good location and the food was not expensive (because there was a deal online) The food was good too!

Recently in Paris

The weather has been nicer lately in Paris.....not as cold, but not really hot yet. It's been raining off and on, but when it's not raining, we try to go out for walks. Even though Paris is a busy city, it has a lot of parks with a lot of trees and flowers. It's nice because it takes you away from the cars and buildings for a little bit. However, when the weather is nice....everyone goes out to the parks and gardens. Sometimes its more crowded there than on the streets!

Pretty flowers and cute wooden stairs in the back
Paris is also very interesting to walk around. There's always something to see. Like this....It's a huge block of chocolate! They carve into the chocolate by hand. It really does look like two hippos in muddy water.

The weather has been interesting too. A little like Miami where it's raining one minute and the sun is shining bright the next. It's a little hard because you're not sure what to expect sometimes. But I guess it's pockets of rain clouds over the city that come and pass.

Des Muguets

The 1st of May is the French Labor day...well I think it's Labor day in many other countries too....just not the US. So on the 1st of May you're suppose to give a specific type of flowers to the people around you and wish them good luck. In English they're called "lilies of the valley" in French, they're "muguets". They smell very nice. All these people from the country come into the city to sell these flowers on May 1st.

Here are our Muguets (the rose is just extra =))
